During the consultation, the physician reviews medical history, medications, risk factors, expectations and therapeutic alternatives in order to determine whether the procedure is appropriate for each patient.

Possible complications include bleeding, infection, temporary or persistent changes in sensation, unfavorable scarring, asymmetries, contour irregularities, nerve injury and the need for additional procedures.
